Renoir and Lise Tréhot (29)
We’re entering 1872, the year of the mysterious break-up between Renoir and Lise. This sketch (’pochade’) may have been made in preparation for a larger work that never saw the light of day.
But are we indeed looking at a portrait of Lise? Or is the model a certain Fanny Robert as one author claims?
