10 July is Pissarro day. Camille Pissarro was born and his son Lucien Pissarro died on that day.
Camille Pissarro was born in 1830 on the Caribbean island of Saint Thomas. In those days that was Danish territory. Pissarro never revoked his Danish citizenship, despite the fact that he spent nearly his entire adult life in France.
Lucien Pissarro was the eldest son of Camille, who taught and continuously coached him. He settled in England in 1890 and became a British citizen in 1916. He died in 1944.
